"Backing on a Chip Barge"
A
tugboat often stops-up its tow by backing on it.
The
skipper usually does this
from the after
controls
which face astern to give him a clear view of things.
The after controls on the boat in this painting
are between the tug's twin exhaust stacks which are painted in the
owner's (Seaspan, in this case) colors.
